Diners at Starvin Marvin's feast on sandwiches, grill-kissed steaks and burgers, and other hearty fare in a friendly, casual setting. Sixteen ounces of slow-roasted prime rib arrives at tables, carved by hand and accompanied by au jus ($22), and a Texas sized sirloin ($10 for 6oz.; $18 for 12oz.) and center-cut filet dinners ($18 to $22) dress up in garnishes, and their mothers’ pearls. Salads give customers a taste of the way ancient civilizations meals did with The Wedge ($5) and Caesar ($7). Six different burgers and eight sandwiches vie for the title of most-filling meal in options such as the Grilled Shrimp BLAT Wrap ($10) and the Shrimp, Oyster, or Combo Po-Boy ($9). The fourteen fresh made sides, from mac-n-cheese, sweet potato fries to grilled asparagus ($2.50 each) finishes any meal with yummyness. Guests can also eat or drink in the ambience of the restaurant’s heated outdoor patio, intimate upstairs dining, the roar of sports enthusist downstairs, and live music every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night.
SEE WHAT SOUTHEAST TEXAS DINERS HAVE TO SAY:
My husband and I were very pleased with our lunch yesterday at Starvin Marvin; our first visit there. Our waiter, Kirby, was energetic and eager to please. The warm bread and cinnamon-y butter that is served first was excellent. We also enjoyed the warm and crispy cheese sticks for an appetizer. But the absolute best was the blackberry baby back ribs. My husband had seen them advertised on the TV commercial and had been dying to try them. He ordered a 1/2 rack, but next time he will order the whole; it was that good. I enjoyed the fried shrimp po'boy and the steak fries. We felt the prices were reasonable. This visit we did not try any alcohol, but they seem to have a large selection. Overall, a very good experience.....we will go back. – Linda
The Chipotle Quail is outstanding!!! I had the sauteed green beans and carrot soufflé to accompany. They were both delicious. Polished it off with a 4 dollar 32oz Shiner Bock. Great atmosphere as well! – Gazebo Dan
